IT consulting in Seattle.
For projects, not retainers.

Senior-led Microsoft migrations and modernization for Puget Sound organizations. Fixed-fee scope, vendor-neutral, labor-only. Onsite across the metro, delivered USA-wide.

Pro IT NW is a Seattle-based Microsoft project consultancy. We run Microsoft 365 and Exchange migrations, VMware exits and Windows Server modernization, and identity, security, and compliance engineering — senior-led, fixed-fee, and vendor-neutral. We do not resell licenses and we do not run a help desk. Onsite across the Puget Sound region, delivered remotely nationwide.

Scope

What Seattle organizations engage us for.

Three pillars, plus the work that sits between them. Every engagement is scoped in writing before it starts.

01

Microsoft 365 & hybrid Exchange

Tenant-to-tenant moves for M&A and divestiture, on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online, file shares into SharePoint and OneDrive, and the on-prem Exchange decommission most firms leave half-finished.

02

VMware exit & server modernization

Broadcom-driven migrations to Hyper-V, Azure Stack HCI, Nutanix, Scale Computing, or Azure IaaS — chosen on the workload, not on who pays a referral. Windows Server end-of-support planning alongside it.

03

Identity, security & compliance

Active Directory audits and Tier-0 hardening, Entra ID hybrid and Conditional Access, Copilot readiness and permission remediation, GCC High and CMMC groundwork for the defense supply chain.

Local reality

What actually differs about a Puget Sound engagement.

Washington privacy law reaches further than HIPAA. The My Health My Data Act covers consumer health data held by organizations that are not HIPAA covered entities at all — wellness platforms, employers running health programs, health-adjacent software. Several Seattle organizations we have scoped assumed they were outside the perimeter because they were not a clinic. Where that data lives in SharePoint or a Copilot-indexed tenant, it changes the permission model before it changes anything else. Washington's breach notification statute (RCW 19.255) sets the timeline you are working against if that goes wrong.

The defense supply chain here is deeper than the primes. Aerospace and marine suppliers across the region hold Controlled Unclassified Information under DFARS flow-down without describing themselves as defense contractors. That drives GCC High eligibility questions, NIST 800-171 gap work, and SPRS self-attestation exposure — the CMMC third-party assessment mandate is currently suspended, but DFARS 252.204-7012 and the self-attestation obligation still bind, which arguably raises the False Claims Act exposure on an inflated score rather than lowering it.

Cutover windows are a Pacific-time problem. A mailbox cutover scheduled from an East Coast delivery centre routinely lands its riskiest hour inside the Seattle business day. When your organization also runs an Asia-Pacific office, the genuinely quiet window is narrow and specific. Being in the same time zone as the affected users is not a marketing point — it is the difference between a Friday-night cutover and a Tuesday-morning incident.

The talent market distorts the buy decision. Competing for senior Microsoft infrastructure engineers against Amazon and Microsoft compensation bands is a losing game for a 200-person company. That is exactly why the project-shaped work — a migration, an exit, an identity remediation — is better bought than hired for. It is finite, it needs seniority for a few months rather than permanently, and it ends.

Coverage

Where we work.

Seattle is home and where onsite work is routine. We regularly work across the wider metro — Bothell, Bellevue, Redmond, Kirkland, Renton, Kent, Everett, Tacoma, and Olympia — and deliver remotely for clients across the United States. Most migration work is remote by nature; we travel for discovery sessions, cutover weekends, and the conversations that are worth having in a room.

There is no branch-office theatre here. One senior team, based in Seattle, that shows up where the work needs a person and works remotely where it does not.

FAQ

Common questions from Seattle organizations.

Who does IT consulting in Seattle for project work rather than ongoing support?

Pro IT NW does. We are a senior-led Microsoft project consultancy based in Seattle: Microsoft 365 and Exchange migrations, VMware exits and server modernization, and identity, security, and compliance engineering. Engagements are scoped and fixed-fee, run by senior engineers, and finish. We are not a managed service provider and we do not run a help desk — if what you need is a monthly support contract, we are the wrong firm and we will say so on the first call.

Do you replace our existing IT team or MSP?

Almost never. Most engagements run alongside an internal IT director, a small internal team, or an incumbent managed service provider. We come in for the project the existing team does not have the bandwidth or the specific depth to run, execute it against a written runbook, and hand documented operational keys back. If your MSP is running well, we do not compete with them — we do the work they are not staffed for and leave.

Are you actually in Seattle, or is this a national firm with a local page?

Seattle is where the firm is based and where onsite work happens. Project delivery is USA-wide and mostly remote, because migrations are remote work by nature — but discovery sessions, cutover weekends, and stakeholder meetings across the Puget Sound region are done in person when they are worth doing in person. We do not maintain satellite offices we would have to pretend are staffed.

What size organization do you work with?

The engagements that fit best sit between roughly 50 and 1,500 seats — large enough that a migration has real consequences and a written runbook matters, small enough that a Tier-1 integrator will not quote it under their minimums. Below about 50 seats a project rarely justifies senior-only delivery, and we will usually tell you so rather than take the work.

How does pricing work?

Fixed-fee scope, defined in writing before kickoff, built from an inventory rather than an estimate. Pricing tracks seat or VM count, workload mix, and environment complexity. There is no license margin subsidizing the engineering, which means the hourly number is rarely the cheapest in the room — and the total project cost is often lower, because there is no incentive to pad scope to recover license revenue.

Do you resell Microsoft licensing?

No. Pro IT NW is labor-only. We do not resell hardware, software, or licenses, and we do not carry vendor partner badges. When a project needs procurement we recommend what fits your environment, work with the vendor of your choice on quoting, and handle install, configuration, and integration. No margin in either direction.

Tell us the workload, the seat count, and the deadline.

We come back inside two business days with scope and a fixed-fee range. If it is not a fit, we will say that instead.
